3. I have some other concerns I would like to address before I begin distance learning. Who might I talk to regarding these?
The Ohio Learning Network is fortunate to be able to work collaboratively with a number of Ohio organizations to help you get started with your education. If you have some specific concerns that are listed below, we would suggest that you contact these organizations for assistance.
I do not have a computer.
In a previous section, we discussed how the Ohio Community Computing Network (OCCN) is a nonprofit statewide, membership-based alliance of community technology centers (CTCs). OCCN is committed to creating a society in which everyone has equal opportunity to gain access to a computer and network technology for life-long learning and personal and community empowerment.
OCCN has a number of sites located throughout Ohio where you can use their computers for distance learning. A map of where these centers are located is found on their Web site along with information on how to contact them. Or, you can call them at (614) 387-6021.
I am currently unemployed or am looking for a new job.
Ohio has 25 One-Stop Career Centers with staff ready to assist you. Use the link provided to the map to find the Center closest to you.
I would like to talk to someone about getting prepared for college.
The Ohio College Access Network is a nonprofit organization that partners with the state of Ohio and the private sector to help Ohioans enroll in and complete college by creating and supporting community-based, locally-run college access programs. Contact information for the nearest OCAN office is available.
